The paintings were originally created as water colors in 1974, based on a series of nearly 200 4"x 6" pen and ink sketches drawn between 1970-71, and were among my first artistic tributes to the Tolkien universe. Thirty years ago, I painted these without having had the dubious "benefit" of seeing someone else's interpretations first. Therefore, the Hobbits (and others) in them bear little resemblance to the popularized style of Hobbits that have become so strongly fixed in many imaginations.
My own favorite Tolkien artists -- Tim Kirk, Robert Howe and Pauline Baynes have turned out to be the ones I most identify with; and while I may not be in their league, I gave it a good try.
These paintings probably no longer exist. Being thirty years old, some were sold, some lost, some even destroyed. They survive only as photographs and, not all of the artwork was even photographed. There were literally dozens of pencil sketches that were lost over the years. Therefore, I give them to you to use on your site, or as wallpaper--asking only that you give me credit and link them back to Daisy's site. NO DIRECT LINKING PLEASE
